By Pamela Freeman, first published in 2005.
The book is about Mary MacKillop and is set in the final three weeks of her life.
While some readers may find some aspects of the story distressing, there is no need for a content warning.
The characters are Mary MacKillop and those involved in her life.
I enjoyed the insight the book gave into Mary’s life, especially her younger days. I liked reading Mary’s thoughts about the turning points in her life, what influenced her decisions, and the poverty she experienced as a young person because of the decisions her father made for the family. There are many moments of sadness and the book quickly sets the scene that Mary ‘lived in a man’s world’.
I was happy to read this book and would recommend it.
