The booklet looks at the lives and influence of 18 women, either named or unnamed, in the Bible, across both the Old and New Testaments.
Each section uses a scripture passage to introduce the woman or women. This is followed by a reflection piece, and then a prayer completes the section.
This booklet seems intended for any person who is interested in biblical women and wonders why they have not had more prominence in our faith stories.
The author uses contemporary issues to highlight aspects of the women’s lives, mainly through the prayer eg women who may be fearful of how their LGBTQI children will be treated ‘in the world.’
The booklet is written in a very easy to read style, from a women’s strength perspective.
I found the booklet to be both easy to read and also quite profound. I liked how each section was divided into the three parts. It enabled me to develop a rhythm in my reading. The booklet highlighted for me how little we hear of or know about many of the women in the Bible. I learnt new things about some of the women which was lovely.
I would recommend this booklet to anyone who wants to learn more about the women in the Bible and help to reclaim their place in our stories of faith.
This booklet (32 Pages) is available at the Catholic Book Shop in Manuka at a cost of $10.
It was published by Twenty-Third Publications in 2023.
